The Kids Are Not Alright

We raised vital funds to fight hygiene poverty’s impact on learning and confidence at school.

Many children feel ashamed at school because they don’t have access to hygiene basics like deodorant and shampoo, leading to embarrassment, bullying and absenteeism.

We learned that girls had been rolling up toilet paper to use as makeshift sanitary pads, and that some were skipping school altogether to escape the shame they experienced.

In 2020, we raised £43,000 to support these children and ease the pressure on teachers who often have to step in to supply essential toiletries to their pupils.
